DebV is a small operation in southwest Iowa located near Treynor. Deb and George Miller II strive to produce high quality registered Limousin and Limflex seedstock that will show as well as work in other breeders herds for replacement females and herd sires. In the last 2 years Deb and George have purchased the home 40 where Deb grew up as well as taking on the role of farming and all the daily cattle obligations. They farm with Deb’s parents, Roger and Ann and it has been a learning experience for us to say the least!
Deb got her start in the limousin breed because her parents used limousin bulls on their commercial cows. When her brother Chad and her started to show, they slowly got rid of the commercial cows and went to an all registered cow herd. They showed at several jackpot shows across the state as well as the national jr show. Chad and Deb were only 2 years apart and showed together a lot. Then 8 years later, Erica came along and had plenty of success herself. One of Deb’s first years of showing she spent all but $20 in her checking account on an open heifer at the Iowa Beef Expo. She showed her the following weekend and she got last in class. That gave her the determination to work hard and boy did that pay off. She went on to be a class winner and reserve in her division at Deb’s first Jr. Nationals in Des Moines, Iowa in 1988. The following year Deb showed a home raised heifer named Sugar-N-Spice, she was selected as the Reserve Grand Champion at the National Jr. Show in Stillwater, OK. We have been fortunate to have had success throughout the country exhibiting and selling our cattle.
They market cattle several ways throughout the year. The family’s private treaty sale in the fall, online sales, privately off the farm as well as the Iowa beef expo sale in February. Their kids Dalton and Ava are slowly building a herd of their own with heifers they have shown and their offspring as well.
Our goal is to continue to improve and move forward with the Limousin breed. It is HOT right now and the cattle are the proof in the pudding with several winning the Supreme banner across the country.
