Our 2015 AJSA summer youth activities intern, Dakota Thomas comes from Dodgeville, Wisconsin where she grew up on her family’s cow/calf and grain operation. In high school Thomas was actively involved in 4-H and FFA competitions as well as showing club calves and Simmentals that her family raised and sold on the local, state, and national level.
Dakota is a student at South Dakota State University (SDSU) where she is working on a degree in Agricultural Communications with minors in Advertising, Animal Science, and Marketing. At SDSU Dakota serves as president of the SDSU Block and Bridle Club, Exec Chair of the SDSU B&B/AGR Jackrabbit Memorial jackpot show, and handles photography for the SDSU Little International. Dakota was also a member of the 2014 SDSU Livestock Judging Team.
Dakota is excited to serve as the 2015 Youth Activities Intern for the American Simmental Association. She looks forward to seeing old friends from her time as an AJSA member, as well as networking with breeders and juniors while growing her professional skills.
