Indianapolis Motor Speedway
Originally conceived as a test track for local automakers, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway opened in 1909. Two years later, the oval hosted its first 500-mile race, forever linking Indianapolis’ name with the spirit of competition. Today, the Hall of Fame Museum houses one of the world’s largest collection of race cars (including more than 30 past winners of the Indianapolis 500), as well as the famous Borg-Warner Trophy.
