Maycee Ratliff of Westphalia, Kansas has been to nearly every North American Limousin Junior National since she was born. Growing up with 4 older siblings (Morgan, Cheyanne, Chase, and Madison), Maycee quickly took to the show cattle world and hasn’t looked back since. It was only fitting in a family of elite showman that Maycee took home the Champion Senior Showman banner at the Junior National this year. “I have been striving for that more than anything, winning it for my last year was more than incredible,” says Maycee, “Chase and Madison were Grand and Reserve for their last year, last year so winning it for my last one was more than incredible.”
The Senior Showmanship finals consist of a regular showmanship portion and then a fit-off portion, where the exhibitors have 30 minutes to fit their animal completely on their own. The mindset exhibitors have to have going into the finals is very important. Maycee says when she was preparing the Senior Showmanship finals, she asked a lot of questions and created a checklist to ensure that she was getting everything done. “I always have my mind set to win and to get it done,” says Maycee. Which she achieved in a very calm and collected manner, even if she said she may be freaking out on the inside.
The Ratliff Family had an unbelievable 2020 Junior National with their genetics rising to the top in nearly every division. Along with Senior Showmanship, Maycee took home the Champion Bred & Owned Lim-Flex Heifer, Champion Bred & Owned Lim-Flex Bull, Fourth Overall Owned Limousin Heifer, and several other division champion banners this week, making this Junior National definitely one to remember.
We would like to congratulate Maycee again on winning the Sullivan Supply/Stock Show U Sponsored Senior Showmanship Contest at the North American Limousin Junior National and also on an overall incredible show.
