We got to talk with Nicki Adolph of Mount Carrol, Illinois. Nicki has been attending the North American Jr. Red Angus Event for the past 4 years. Check out our interview with Nicki below!
How have you become so involved in your association?
We have raised Red Angus cattle for many years. My first junior nationals was in Grand Island in 2014. We had heard about the junior national before but since it was in Nebraska that year, and my dad loves Nebraska we went.
What do you think is the best way to get more juniors involved in your junior nationals?
I really like the new rule they made where you have to compete in two satellite events in order to show at junior nationals because it helps kids get more involved. We need to continue promoting the show. We are definitely growing every year. I think we are doing a great job promoting the show and getting kids involved and I think its something that will grow over time.
What have you gained form attending the NJRAE?
So much. I have learned to be a better public speaker. I did sales talk of the first time and have become better livestock judger from the experience I gained in the contests. I learned how to compete with the next level.
What do you recommend for others who want to get involved?
Do everything. Get involved as much as you can and enjoy it, it goes by really fast.
Whats is you favorite part of junior nationals?
Its hard to pick just one part, but I would have to say the contests.
What are you future goals within the association?
My goals are to keep growing the association and keep getting more kids involved.
