You will be missed, Mr. Turner

John Tim Turner, 79, of Covington, TN, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022.  Tim was born on September 21, 1942 in Covington, TN, the son of Roy and Mildred Turner.  He was a 1961 graduate of Byars Hall High School.  On December 21, 1964, he was united in marriage to Virginia (Jennie) Fyfe Turner.  Tim attended the University of Tennessee at Martin and returned to the family farm to raise Registered Angus Cattle with his father on Turner Angus Farm.  Tim was a cattleman for over 50 years and loved everything about Angus cattle.  He was a member of the Tipton County Cattleman’s Association where he served as a delegate at the annual meeting and he served multiple terms on the Board of Directors of the West Tennessee Angus Association.  He was active in 4-H and FFA as a child and was a proud supporter of youth in the livestock industry.  Some of Tim’s proudest moments were attending fairs and shows with his children, grandchildren and students that he mentored from both Covington FFA and Munford FFA.  He was awarded the honorary State FFA Degree.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Covington, Tipton County Young Farmers and Homemakers as a young adult, President of the Covington High School Band Boosters, which was instrumental in establishing their concessions program.  He also served on the  Board of Directors for Tipton Farmers Co-Op.  His involvement in agriculture brought true happiness to his life, and he was a steward of the land.

Tim is survived in death by his wife Jennie, his children John (Amber) Turner, and Ann (Tony) Johnson; his grandchildren Lindsey Turner, Catherine (Kevin) Pilkington, and Travis Turner; and by his brothers Roy Clay Turner, Gordon (Judy) Turner, and Ted (Carolyn) Turner, all of Covington.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mildred Turner, along with his brothers, Carl Turner, Robert Turner, and Louis Turner.

Graveside services will be 2PM Tuesday, February 1, at Covington Memorial Gardens.

The family asks that memorials be made in his honor to the Tennessee Junior Angus Association, 2365 White Oak Road, McEwen, TN  37101.
