Luke Bolin is the Creative Director at Sullivan Supply and a native of northern Arkansas. He discovered his passion for showing cattle at the age of 15, which quickly led to active involvement both in and outside of the show ring. He developed a strong connection with the Shorthorn breed and, in 2011, became the first person from Arkansas elected to the American Junior Shorthorn Association Board of Directors. After attending the University of Arkansas, Luke completed an internship with the American Hereford Association, an experience that played a significant role in shaping his career path. In 2013, John Sullivan invited him to join the Sullivan Supply team in Dunlap, Iowa, where he took on a key role within the communications and advertising department. One of his first major projects was contributing to the launch of The Pulse, now a central platform in the company’s media presence.
When asked about his favorite memory with Sullivan Supply, Luke shared, “It’s nearly impossible to choose just one. Over the past 11 years, I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside incredible individuals. From mentors to coworkers and interns, we’ve worked hard while creating countless memories along the way.”
Over the years, the scope of Luke’s role within the marketing department has evolved, allowing him to focus on various aspects of the team’s work. Regardless of his specific responsibilities, Luke shared, “One of my favorite things is getting to see our customers engage with the content and products we create, especially outside of the show ring.” He also expressed a strong appreciation for junior nationals, noting, “Some might say it’s the most stressful time of year at Sullivan Supply, but I genuinely enjoy meeting exhibitors from across the country. I’ve been fortunate to watch many of them grow up in this industry.”
Now marking 11 years with Sullivan Supply, Luke Bolin has achieved numerous milestones and taken on various roles throughout his time with the company. One of the most defining aspects of his journey has been The Pulse. As it celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, Luke reflects, “It seems like just yesterday we were taking John’s vision and turning it into a reality. None of us could have imagined it would grow into something so influential that everyone from junior exhibitors to seasoned breeders rely on it.”
Although Luke is widely recognized for his work with The Pulse, in recent years he has transitioned into the role of Creative Director, taking on new responsibilities and shaping broader aspects of the company’s image. One of the key projects under his leadership is the annual Sullivan Supply product catalog. While he admits the process can be demanding, the end result is deeply fulfilling. “There is a wall in the lobby of Sullivan Supply in Dunlap, Iowa, that displays every catalog cover since 1989,” Luke shares. “It’s incredible to think that long after I’m gone, the covers I created will still be hanging there—my lasting impact on the company.”
With over a decade of experience at Sullivan Supply and a lifelong connection to the livestock industry, we asked Luke what advice he would give to college students and the next generation. His answer was clear: “Build connections.” He emphasized that the relationships formed through showing livestock and during college often lead to unexpected opportunities. No matter your background or competitive level, there is always a path to remain involved in the industry you love. “Don’t be afraid to approach industry leaders in the field you want to work in,” Luke advised. “Especially in the livestock industry, you’ll find that people are more than willing to help those who ask.”
While hard work has long been a cornerstone of Luke’s character, we also asked how he enjoys spending his free time. “Fun for me can be many things,” he shared. “I love concerts and visiting some of my favorite places, but I also enjoy a day at the lake, patio parties, and cheering on Arkansas Razorback sports. As long as good friends and family are involved, I’m a pretty happy guy.” In recent years, Luke added a mini Australian Shepherd named Auggie to his life, who keeps things exciting with daily walks and endless games of fetch.
Sullivan Supply is proud to have Luke Bolin as a valuable member of the team. His contributions and accomplishments have left a lasting impact on the company, and we look forward to seeing how he continues to shape its future.
