Meet your 2025 NJLSC Owned Show Judge, Dave Allan of Nocona, TX!
Dave and his wife Becky own and operate Bar A cattle, a purebred hereford operation, and Genesource, a semen distribution company, along with their three boys, Tyler, Mason and Landry. Dave grew up in Seward, Nebraska where he and his siblings exhibited Hereford cattle through 4-H and the Junior Hereford Association. After high school Dave attended Texas A&M where he was part of the judging team. Throughout high school and college, Dave and his brother Mark started Allan Fitting Service where they exhibited multiple national champion bulls and females. Dave then went to Michigan State for graduate work and was the assistant judging coach for the livestock judging team. Dave had an accomplished career as herdsman for multiple different seedstock operations including, Jensen Bros, Adams Bros, Barber Ranch, Sullivan Farms, During this time he was the national Herdsman of the year in the Hereford and Limousin breeds. In the late 90’s Dave returned to Texas to manage a large feeder cattle operation for several years, before building his club calf herd. After 2012,he dispersed his club calf herd to start Genesource as well as come back to the Hereford breed with his family. Since then Bar A cattle has been raising nationally competitive Herefords.
Dave has judged state and national shows across the country as well as Canada and Mexico, including the National Western, American Royal, NAILE, Cattleman’s Congress and multiple Junior Nationals.
