Meet Samantha VanVorhis

Red Coat Roll Call
Introducing one of our AJSA Directors Samantha VanVorhis
Hello, my name is Samantha VanVorhis, and I am from Bowling Green, Ohio. I am a Sophomore at Oklahoma State University majoring in Agricultural Communications and Agribusiness with a dual minor in Political Science and International Relations. I have shown shorthorn my whole life and have such a deep passion for the breed in and out of the show ring!
What is a valuable trait to have as an AJSA junior board member?
I believe that one of the most valuable traits you can have as an AJSA Junior Board Member is passion. We all have something that drives us to be on the board, whether it be passion for the cattle, helping juniors, or just the breed as a whole. I believe it is a vital trait to have as a board member!
What has the Shorthorn breed done for you?
From a young age, the Shorthorn breed has provided me with a family beyond my own. From the very first Jr. Nationals I attended in Madison, WI, many have welcomed me with open arms. As my web of friends and family grew, so did my love for the breed. In addition, the breed has provided me with many opportunities and relationships that go far beyond show cattle, and for that, I am forever grateful.
What is your must-have to work the ring on show day?
Besides a positive attitude, my show ring must haves are my show program and some good show ring tunes. The show programs help keep us all on track and also helps me know how fast the show is moving in the event that I am also showing that day. The music in the show ring helps set the tone for the day, keeping me a little more upbeat!
