Who are your greatest mentors? My parents, My bother-John, and Jason Maynard

What do you love about your breed? We are close knit family and we know everyone on a first name basis

What is your favorite junior national memory? My favorite Junior national memory was attending my first junior national in 2008 in Kansas City. I had never even been to a state fair at that point and it was a great eye opening experience.

What do you want people to be excited about with Junior Nationals? I want people to be excited about the contest and the networking they will be able to do. This year we have not only teamed up with the Chianina association but also the Shorthorn association so our junior members will have the ability to connect with members of those breeds as well as maines.

What is the board most excited about? We are excited about getting back together and working again to make this the biggest junior national yet.

What is the biggest life lesson you can take away from showing livestock? The effort you put into your project is going to be what you get. Work hard to achieve your goals, things are not always given to you but don’t ever quit!

What is the most rewarding experience while on the Jr. Board? I love interacting with the youth. They are our future and I love seeing the passion they have and how involved they are.

How do you plan to stay involved with your breed after your term on the jr board is over? Once my term is over I still plan on being involved by helping with junior events. Due to the location of next year’s junior national I will be very involved in the planning and execution and look forward to seeing everyone in 2015 as well!
