According to research done by the University of Missouri, reduced or late hair shedding can result in a lower calf weaning weight and a dam’s failure to rebreed.
Annual hair shed scores taken in April, May or June, when a majority of the herd has started to shed, can help you track the trait in your herd; and when submitted to AHIR, can improve the accuracy of the Hair Shed EPD.
