Hello! My name is Joseph Serpa and I have been in the livestock industry my entire life – from the show side to the commercial side. I exhibited locally, state and nationally and have had herds of hogs, sheep, and goats at one time or another. I have 2 daughters Jaqueline and Jaylyne, both also exhibited locally, state, and nationally they are the 5th generation in my family to exhibit livestock. My oldest, Jaqueline, got married last October and at Christmas told me that I’m going to be a grandparent! I am happily engaged to Kate Bigelow and we are planning to get married this fall sometime. We raise a group of wether goats and sheep and also a little group of registered dairy goats. I’m a cancer survivor clean for 3 years… I owe all my knowledge and success to my father that I miss every day…
Why do you like working in the livestock show industry?
I love to help exhibitors get better whether they are adults or our youth – which is our future in the industry. I love it all from the daily grooming, feeding, and showmanship I enjoy seeing people smile as they progress.
What are you most looking forward to working for Sullivan Supply?
I’m looking to broadening my knowledge of the industry so I can help more people!
What opportunities are you hoping to get during this opportunity?
Hopefully, I can get to go to some of the majors and some species national shows to help broaden my knowledge and help others do the same!
