Celebrating Lowell Tiedt – A True Champion for Youth & Agriculture

If you’ve spent any time around the 4-H Beef Cattle barns at the Iowa State Fair, chances are you’ve crossed paths with Lowell Tiedt, and left with a smile. For years, Lowell has served as Assistant Beef Superintendent, playing a vital role in making sure every exhibitor’s experience is organized, fair, and unforgettable.

Lowell brings more than just his expertise to the job, he brings a servant’s heart. Whether he’s coordinating show schedules, lending a hand during check-in, or offering encouraging words to a nervous first-year exhibitor, Lowell’s steady leadership and genuine care shines through in every moment.

His commitment to youth agriculture doesn’t stop at the fairgrounds. From decades of community service to his leadership in local organizations, Lowell’s passion for building people up is as strong as his work ethic.

Lowell has never met a stranger, and no matter where he goes, he’s sure to find a friend. His warmth, camaraderie, and genuine kindness have a way of leaving a lasting impression on everyone he meets, building connections that run deeper than most.

This year, we say thank you and farewell as Lowell retires from his role as Assistant Beef Superintendent. While his presence in the barn will be deeply missed, his impact on the Iowa State Fair and the generations of youth he has encouraged will be felt for years to come. Congratulations, Lowell, on a well-earned retirement!
