Celebrating Bruce Jones: Over 30 Years of Dedication to Iowa State Fair 4-H Youth

For over 30 years, Bruce Jones of Aurelia, Iowa, has been more than a familiar face at the Iowa State Fair, he’s been a mentor, advocate, and tireless supporter of the youth who make the 4-H Beef Show what it is today.

Bruce has dedicated his time, energy, and heart to creating opportunities for young people to grow, learn, and succeed in and out of the show ring. As Beef Superintendent, Bruce has guided generations of exhibitors through one of the most competitive and rewarding events at the Fair, making sure every exhibitor’s experience is one they’ll never forget.

The Jones family’s passion for youth programs runs deep. From sponsoring awards to showing up in the stands to cheer on participants, Bruce is always there, not just a a leader, but as a true champion for the kids. He’s taken the time to learn names, build relationships, and encourage each exhibitor to take pride in their work and their livestock.

The Iowa State Fair has been a lifelong tradition for Bruce , first as a 4-H’er himself, then as a club leader, a 4-H parent, and now as a 4-H grandparent. That commitment isn’t just about livestock; it’s about shaping the next generation, teaching hard work, and instilling values that last a lifetime.

As Bruce hangs up his superintendent hat this year, we celebrate not just his three decades of service, but the lasting impact he has made on Iowa’s youth. The Iowa State Fair 4-H Beef Show would not be the same without the dedication, kindness, and leadership Bruce has given so freely.
