How many years have you attended the NAILE?
20-25 years

Why is it important for you to attend these Major Shows?
National and Major Shows are a good place to spotlight your breeding program. It gives people the chance to see the quality of the cattle you are breeding.

What sires are working well for you in your operation?
2 bulls that we take a lot of pride in are full brother Maine Anjou bulls. Both of these bulls we raised and work great in our operation. X and X2.
We have recently purchased a bull from Express Ranches: C & C McKinley that is going to extend our operation with some elite cattle.

Do you think the Maine Anjou breed has changed? If so how? And do you think it’s for better or worse?
Yes, I do think the breed has changed in the last 3 years. Maine Anjou cattle are going in more of a club calf direction, which is great for club calf breeders but not necessarily great for the Maine Anjou breeding cattle. A focus on High Percent cattle makes for a strong breed and will help maintain numbers which will create more members.

What is one thing about the Maine- Anjou breed you enjoy the most?
The Maine Anjou is a diverse breed. The diversity in cattle. Many people use in the club calve industry and we have been using this breed in our commercial cattle for some time now.

If you had to pick another breed to show what one would it be and why?
Angus breed. We have actually just started getting into the breed. In the past 3 years the quality in Angus have improved and surpassed quality of other breeds. The diversity that you can get in the Angus breed is phenomenal.

What is your favorite thing about the NAILE?
The Facility and Show ring is second to none!
