Best of the Barns Junior Activities Director | Lindsey Broek

The Best of the Barns awards honor individuals who go above and beyond in the livestock industry, and this year, Lindsey Broek has earned her spot at the top as the 2024 Junior Activities Director winner. Lindsey serves as the Voice Editor and Director of Show, Communications & Events with the American Maine-Anjou Association, where her dedication, leadership, and passion for youth programs have left a lasting mark on the breed and its junior members.

Each year, Lindsey—alongside her hardworking team and the staff from the American Chianina Association—produces one of the most anticipated events in the industry: the Maine-Anjou & Chianina Junior National Heifer Show. Known for its efficiency, excitement, and welcoming environment, the show has become a standout among breed junior nationals. From planning and logistics to on-the-ground execution, Lindsey’s leadership ensures a seamless experience that is both competitive and deeply rewarding for exhibitors and their families.

But Lindsey’s impact reaches far beyond the show ring. Her tireless efforts have not only helped grow the Maine-Anjou junior program, but have also built a culture rooted in connection and community. The size of the breed has allowed Lindsey and her team to form genuine relationships with junior members and their families—relationships that feel more like friendships than formal roles.

That sense of connection is felt in every detail, from the way the events are run to the relationships built throughout the week. Lindsey’s leadership continues to shape the Maine-Anjou Association into more than just a breed—it’s a family.

“Lindsey has a way of making each of our juniors feel special and included. She is a joyful, welcoming individual who genuinely cares about our lives outside of the show ring,” says Abby Stallbaumer, AJMAA President. “She pushes us to be the best version of ourselves, helps us see the best in every situation, and does it all in the most fun way possible. The Maine-Anjou Association has seen tremendous growth and will continue to do so with Lindsey’s passion for the breed, and the youth within the Maine-Anjou family.”

As longtime junior Carlee Clark from Oklahoma puts it, “I’ve known Lindsey since I was 6! She’s more like a show mom than a director—she’s just not a hugger!”

Whether it’s through mentorship opportunities, creative programming, or simply making sure every young exhibitor feels seen and valued, Lindsey has become a pillar of support and inspiration in the junior livestock community. Her tireless efforts don’t go unnoticed, and this honor is a reflection of the countless hours and heart she pours into her work.

Congratulations to Lindsey Broek on being named the 2024 Best of the Barns Junior Activities Director. The future is bright with leaders like you at the helm.
