If there’s one word that defines the 2024 season for Boyert-Core Show Cattle, it’s “blessed.” And it’s easy to see why. From coast-to-coast wins to unforgettable show ring moments, the operation had a year that may never be topped. But ask the families behind the success what meant the most, and they’ll tell you it wasn’t the banners—it was the memories made with a strong team, loyal customers, and the families that make up the heart of Boyert-Core. Their 2024 run wasn’t just a winning streak; it was the result of relentless hard work, generational knowledge, and staying the course—even when things didn’t start with a bang.
With roots in both Pleasantville, Iowa, and Seville, Ohio, Boyert-Core Show Cattle is a family-run operation grounded in legacy. Jared and Bailey Boyert, along with their children Sloan, Brindle, and Boston, manage the Iowa location alongside Bailey’s parents, Mark and Deb Core, at the original Core Farms. In Ohio, Jake and Natalie Boyert raise cattle with their son Raymond (and one on the way), along with Clayton Boyert. Their extended family—siblings Becca, Matt, and Anna—are also involved, particularly in their greenhouse business, which is a major enterprise on the Ohio side. It’s this dynamic mix of generations, geography, and grit that gives Boyert-Core its powerhouse reputation in the industry.
Focused on junior show cattle across multiple breeds, the team has built a business model that fits a wide range of customers—whether they’re looking for a national contender or a solid genetic addition to their herd. Cattle from both states are brought together for in-person viewing during their Iowa-hosted sales, including their cornerstone October Heifer Sale featuring over 100 head. In addition, Boyert-Core runs a steer and heifer pasture sale in September, a bred female sale in December, and a fallborn sale in March—all hosted online via SC to maximize access and buyer flexibility. Their growing bull division, Boyert Bulls, and a targeted 80-day pregnant recip program round out a diversified offering that keeps their customers competitive and coming back.
The results speak for themselves. In 2024, Boyert-Core was connected to an impressive number of high-level wins, including three of the four Supreme titles awarded at the American Royal and NAILE—an accomplishment very few can claim. They raised or sold winners such as the Supreme Junior Heifer at NAILE (Sloane Curtin), Supreme Open Heifer at both NAILE and the American Royal (Avery Sweeney and Curtin), and multiple breed champions at NWSS, Simmental Junior Nationals, and the Iowa State Fair. A key theme across their year: heifers that didn’t start the season in the spotlight but powered through to win the biggest banners in the fall.
Behind these champions were standout genetics. One of their proudest breeding moments came from Sweeney’s Charolais Supreme Open Heifer at NAILE—sired and out of cattle raised by Boyert-Core. That pedigree is a living example of what decades of disciplined breeding can create. Their Simmental bull “NEXT LEVEL” made a splash in his first full season with multiple national champions to his name, while their Maine bull “ONE FOR ALL” had a breakout year siring winners at NWSS and FWSS. These sires are shaping multiple breeds and adding momentum to the Boyert-Core breeding program.
Still, what sets Boyert-Core apart isn’t just what they win—it’s how they do it. Their unofficial mission, “Committed to the Experience,” drives how they serve their customers. Whether it’s helping a first-time family prepare for their first show or seeing a child’s face light up as their project heads to the backdrop, the Boyert-Core crew takes pride in making those experiences meaningful. They know the right cattle can change a kid’s future—and that walking alongside families through that process is the most rewarding part of their work. Their launch of “Junior National Show Your Spirit Day” last September proved just that, inspiring hundreds of kids to celebrate and share their passion at school.
Congratulations to Boyert-Core Show Cattle on being named our 2024 Best of the Barns: Best Cattle Operation Winner! Your year was defined by hustle, heart, and the kind of perseverance that turns early disappointments into champion moments. Thank you for raising the bar—and for inspiring the next generation to chase their dreams in and out of the show ring.
