1. What was the highlight of your time at the AGJA Junior Classic?
Showing BSSC Miss Memphis 4115M and having her named Champion Bred & Owned Balancer Female was definitely the highlight. It was such a proud moment for me. She also ended up Third Overall in the Owned Show, which was really exciting.
2. What’s the story behind Miss Memphis?
She actually goes back to my very first Balancer heifer, Butlers Ms Greta 730F. I got her from Butler Creek Farms, and she really kicked off my love for this breed. Miss Memphis is her daughter, so it’s been really special to show her and have her do this well.
3. Where have you been racking up miles and memories this summer?
It’s been a busy one! Besides the AGJA Junior Classic, I’ve been to Maine-Anjou & Chianina Junior Nationals, and now I’m getting ready to head to Angus Junior Nationals in Tulsa. After that, I’ll be going to Junior National Hereford Expo in Louisville too. It’s a lot of work, but a lot of fun too.
4. Who’s been behind the scenes helping you make it all happen?
Honestly, I couldn’t do any of this without my crew. I’m super thankful for everyone who helps in the barn and back home on the farm, the team who helped get her ready this morning, and most of all my family. A big thank-you goes to my mom and dad — they’re always there for me and support me through everything.
5. What does the future look like for Miss Memphis and your program?
She represents what I want to continue to build — females that can compete in the show ring and go to work in the pasture. I’m excited to use these genetics to grow my own herd!
