AGJA Junior Classic | A Grand Gelbvieh Debut for Martha Moenning

The American Gelbvieh Association proudly welcomed Martha Moenning as the new Youth Activities Coordinator in May 2025. Originally from southeast Minnesota, Martha brings a strong background in livestock, education, and youth development. Her early experience showing livestock and serving on the Junior Simmental Association board sparked a passion for youth programs that has shaped her career path ever since. She’s a graduate of South Dakota State University, where she competed on the livestock judging team, following time at El Dorado Community College.

Martha’s professional experience includes time with the National Swine Registry, the American Royal, and the American Meat Science Association, all focused on youth outreach and educational events. She credits those opportunities for cultivating her enthusiasm for livestock shows and the character-building experiences they offer young people. Now, she’s bringing that energy and heart to the Gelbvieh breed.

As she gets to know the families and exhibitors within the AGA, Martha is especially excited about fostering the competitive yet close-knit environment that defines the Junior Classic. “This event is really special to me,” she shares. “Everyone here is so welcoming – parents and volunteers were offering to help from the very beginning.” She says what makes the Gelbvieh junior program stand out is its true sense of family and unity.

Looking ahead, Martha hopes to listen and learn from those behind the breed to continue shaping events. Whether it’s building leadership or creating unforgettable moments in the ring, she’s committed to championing the values that have always defined the Gelbvieh community. And while the Tennessee heat may be sweltering this week, Martha encourages everyone to “stay hydrated, swing by the show office to enjoy the AC, and check out the photography entries and silent auction!”
