Best of the Barns | Show Mom of the Year – Jordan Butler

Jordan’s impact on the livestock industry reaches far beyond the show ring. Whether she’s organizing events, encouraging young exhibitors, supporting families behind the scenes, or raising her own four boys, she has built a reputation for making people feel valued, capable, and supported. To many, she’s a leader in the sheep industry. To those closest to her, she’s a loyal friend, devoted mom, mentor, and someone who truly lives “for the kids.”

Alongside her mother, Jordan helped create the Mark Banbury Memorial Lamb Show, which has grown into one of the most respected and well-attended lamb shows in the country. Families, breeders, and exhibitors travel from all over to be part of an event centered around creating positive experiences for youth exhibitors.

“The whole idea has always been to make it youth-focused with kids in mind,” said Katie Cull, Sullivan Supply Sales & Site Manager – Ohio. “It’s really more of an experience and less of a jackpot.”

From contests and giveaways to sponsored Wi-Fi for livestock exhibitors at the Ohio State Fair and free coffee for families, Jordan constantly looks for ways to make people feel welcomed and appreciated. Every exhibitor leaves with something, not just prizes, but memories, confidence, and a sense of belonging.

One of the proudest moments for those closest to Jordan was watching her vision for The Block Futurity Sale come to life.

“It started as an idea over a cup of coffee on her front porch,” shared Madison Banbury. “Watching her stand up and speak at the inaugural sale in front of breeders and industry people from across the country was one of the proudest moments of our friendship.”

But beyond the success of the events she builds, some of the most meaningful moments come from watching Jordan as a mom.

“Watching her kids grow in the ring has been emotional, from Finn’s first trip into the ring to his first banners, and now Bo jumping into the goat deal with both feet,” Banbury said.

Jordan’s husband, Thomas Butler, says much of what people see publicly is only part of the story.

“Jordan is the breadwinner in our family,” Butler shared. “She took The Farm Printing from a side hustle to a thriving full-time business. The flexibility has allowed her to be a super show mom and a great shepherd to our small flock.”

That same work ethic carries into the way she raises her boys in the livestock industry.

“The boys and her are in the barn every night working on showmanship or whatever needs done,” Butler said. “There are sweat and tears all the time, but she also makes sure the boys have fun.”

Even with all the roles she carries, mom, business owner, show manager, coach, and planner, Jordan still has a unique ability to make every young exhibitor feel important, whether they are winning banners or stepping into the ring for the first time.

“She truly pays it forward,” Cull explained. “Jordan understands that success means little unless you help others rise along the way.”

At the center of everything Jordan does are the values she teaches through the livestock industry: hard work, kindness, responsibility, sportsmanship, and giving back to others. She leads by example and reminds young exhibitors that success is about far more than banners and buckles.

“Jordan cares deeply about all of these things,” Butler said, “and because of that, she is relentless in trying to make everything better.”

Through every late night, road trip, show day, and opportunity she creates for young exhibitors, Jordan continues to shape the livestock industry into a community built on encouragement, generosity, and heart.
