Show Pig Manager
Shaffer Goldrush is looking for a Show Pig Manager. We are looking for a highly motivated, hardworking, reliable person that can work both independently and in a team setting. This person is someone who is passionate about the show pig industry and has previous livestock knowledge. We are looking for someone who has shown or got pigs or other livestock ready at a high level of competition. Having knowledge of the show pig industry is encouraged; however livestock and farm knowledge is needed.
Job is to start ASAP
Duties would include but not limited to:
• Daily care of pigs
• Train baby pigs for online and live sales
• Work with Aimee to picture, video, and post pig sales
• Help show boars, gilts and baby pigs to customers
• Clean pens, power wash, and keep barns clean
• Work every 3rd weekend (rotating with Bradley and Joseph)
• Work in the farrowing house during heavy farrowing season and help breed during heavy breeding season
• Help wean pigs
• Take care of pigs in the nursery and finisher
• Delivery of pigs. This would include meeting haulers and delivering pigs across the country to meet customers.
• Prepare mature gilts for shows and sales
• Train and care for young boars going into the stud
• Help out with other projects around the farm that may arise
• Ability to help with marketing if desired
