Certificate of Veterinary Inspection:

Pennsylvania cattle must be accompanied by a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection signed and dated by an accredited veterinarian with an inspection date within the thirty (30) days prior to the date of arrival at the show. Cattle Identification Requirements: All cattle for exhibition must be identified by a USDA-issued

metal eartag; a breed registration tattoo if the tattoo is legible and the registration certificate accompanies the animal; a breed registration eartag; or an ISO-compliant 15-digit eartag (including RFID).

  • No tuberculosis test is required.
  • No brucellosis test is required.

Vaccination Recommendations:

It is highly recommended that all animals entering the show be immunized against IBR, PI3, BVD, BRSV, and rabies be given after January 1, 2014.

Certificate of Veterinary Inspection: Out of-state cattle must be accompanied by a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection signed and dated by an accredited veterinarian with an inspection date within the thirty (30) days prior to the date of arrival at the show. If an animal comes from a state in which Vesicular Stomatitis (VS) has been identified, or a bordering state, the CVI shall include a statement verifying that “all animals identified on this certificate of veterinarian inspection have been examined and found to be free from Vesicular Stomatitis. During the past 90 days, these animals have neither been exposed to VS nor located within 10 miles of a site where VS has been diagnosed.”

Tuberculosis Testing Requirements:

  • Test-eligible animals shall be all cattle of all ages.
  • If the animal originates from a
  • Tuberculosis-free state or zone, no tuberculosis test is required.
  • If the animal originates from a state or zone that is classified as Modified Advanced Accredited (MAA), the animal shall be tuberculosis test negative within the 60 days prior to the date of arrival at the show. The Certificate of Veterinary Inspection shall include all test results and dates of those tests.
  • If the animal originates from a state or zone that is classified as Modified Accredited (MA), the animal shall originate from a herd which was negative on a whole herd test (all animals 12 months of age and older shall be tested) within the 12 months prior to the date of arrival at the show, and the individual animal to be exhibited (all ages) must be tested negative at least 60 days after the whole herd test and within the 60 days prior to the date of arrival at the show. The Certificate of Veterinary Inspection shall include all test results and dates of those tests.
  • Brucellosis Testing Requirements:
  • Test-eligible animals shall be all unvaccinated cattle over eight months of age (269 days) and calfhood vaccinated animals over 14 months of age (449 days). Steers are exempt from brucellosis testing requirements.
  • If the animal originates from a Brucellosis-free state, no brucellosis test is required.
  • If the animal originates from a Brucellosis Class A, B or C state the animal shall be brucellosis test negative within the 60 days prior to the date of arrival at the show.
